Coventry trio The Ripps offer a breathe of fresh air with their debut single Vandals; a track that embraces upbeat pop-punk, indie and even a hint of ska at times.
The band sing about youth and being part of a generation of vandals that spend the night in a police cell after smashing stuff up. It's like a mix of The Libertines, 70's punk (a la Buzzcocks), Billy Bragg and just the kind of energetic, fun music we need to brighten up these darkened Winter days.
Turn over to the b-side and Hypocrites is jagged punk crafted with a real DIY aesthetic. The recording is tastefully raw and loose, going as far as to capture some of their stage presence. The Ripps are going to go far if they keep throwing up tracks this infectious.
