Upon first hearing the debut single (Trippin') from The KBC, I prematurely dismissed the Preston trio as a poor baggy rehash. Subsequent releases however, have since shown how niave my earlier judgements were as the band appear to be strengthening with each single.
Test The Water is the first sample from The KBC's debut album and the change from their very first offering is astounding. The production is suitably beefy to accompany their dance-orientated post-punk meets new-wave angle and even manages to go as far as to capture the energy of their stage performance. A pleasing Longcut intro soon develops into a stomping 4/4 indie-disco beat and throbbing bass that is impossible to ignore.
People will be going crazy to this whether it's being played over the club speakers, performed on stage or in the surroundings of their own home. If there's only one single purchase this week, you know where to come.
