Matchsticks - Duvet

A swift name change after just one single (they were Flying Matchstick Men) and Scots electro-popsters Matchsticks are back with second single Duvet, as well as support performances this week with a certain influential Sheffield band called the Human League.

Duvet is far-too sugary sweet and overly kitsch for it's own good, but the track is a fun lesson in catchy 8-bit art-rock, powerpop that surprisingly works. Bouncing synths, disco bass, angular guitars and quirky vocals are so god damn catchy and upbeat, that it makes a great two and half minute blast of pure fun. A whole album of this however, would probably become annoying very quickly.
