Frontman Nathan's monotonous, reptetive vocals certainly suit the subject matter of Boring Lifestyles perfectly, as a droning voice dishes out lyrics like "Finish school, find a job. Working from 9 to 5" and "Oh, the New Year again. Let's make resolutions. Replace all your bad traits, with healthy solutions".
The mundane imagery and dullness of day-to-day life is emphasised even further by a gruelling bass and the mangled screech of ear-piercing sax outbursts that touches on the amateur stages shows of cult 70's punk outfit The Prefects.
Happy Alone on the flipside is another gem that probably sounds great live. Here Twisted Charm lose the slicker sound of the a-side for a more shambolic direction. The Finsbury Park punks instead show-off their off-kilter rhythms; from bouncing, jerky PiL basslines, clattering drums, cowbell and vocals all-over the place. It's this care-free, hedonistic vibe that will keep the single on repeated play.
