Goldmund - The Heart Of High Places
[Type Records]

Keith Kenniff really is a jack of all trades; releasing music under the aliases of Helios, Sono and of course Goldmund, the same moniker that dropped the breath-taking Corduroy Road album last year.

The Heart Of High Places is six short piano-pieces mostly under the two minute mark. No other instruments are used, leaving the entire focus on the sheer warmth and rustic beauty of the classic piano sound.

At times the songs are childlike and stripped, while others are rich in depths and atmosphere. Either way, every track is warm, emotive and proving that sometimes, the simpler things in life are the best.

A beautiful record for the cold and frosty Winter nights, The Heart Of High Places should appeal to fans of Hauschka and Max Richter. But once again, Type have come up on tops with their singles series.
