Starky - Is This How It Ends / Hey Bang Bang

Already doing well in their native Australia, Starky's first forray into the UK music scene is an epic, anthemic track named Is This How It Ends.

Considering their producer has in the past, worked with Suede and Manic Street Preachers, it's not surprising the single is a slick slice of polished, infectious indie. Led by a huge chorus and a chugging rhythm section that The Strokes would be proud of, Is This How It Ends four minutes of huge fun-filled, guitar-pop.

Turn over to b-side Hey Bang Bang and this is a new band altogether, with Starky offering their take on melancholic Interpol meets The Bravery rock. Aside from the eery synths, the drums are typically Joy Division and a Smiths influence comes through from the jangly guitars and broody vocals. This is the classic 80's British inspired sound that bands like Omerta or New York's The Isles have been striving for.

It's only a matter of time before Starky begin to enjoy the same kind of success they've achieved in their homeland. A name to watch for 2007.
