Yes Yes Y'all isn't the first time Mekon has collaborated with seminal hip hop icon Roxanne Shante (the then teen rapper behind Roxanne's Revenge and the infamous early 80's battle with UTFO), as the pair hooked up on 2000's single, What's Going On.

Six years later and the pairing have cooked up a storming dancefloor beast, which incidentally, is the best track on Mekon's recent Something Came Up album. Like last single Blood On The Moon, Yes Yes Y'all is an intoxicating brew of gruelling synths and devastating beats, albeit this time with the helium-filled rapping of Miss Shante, who spits out lightning vocals like "down on the floor and up against the wall, yes yes y'all".

Hip hop and dance shouldn't go together so well, but this is a trick Mekon has prefected on Something Came Up - fusing contradicting styles with ease and turning out some real classics in the process. Tracks like this don't come around too often - embrace it!
