Wolf People - October Fires / Black Water
[Battered Ornaments]

October Fires is a swamp-fried Beefheartian beast that wouldn't sound out of place on a dusty soundtrack to some obscure psych film. Big on breaks and bluesy swagger, it rarely gets any better than this.

Harmonica and tub-thumping, stomping beats add tinges of psych-rock while the hiss and muddy recording is topped off by the use of a 60's tape recorder for that genuine, fuzzy warmth that so many tracks lack these days.

Black Water is as equally inviting, injecting yet more cavenous beats, serious riffage and acidic hippy-vocals into the mix. Expect grand things to come from these here Wolf People and the blossoming Battered Ornaments label.
