The Holloways - Generator
[TVT Records]

It's not often that violins are used in indie records these days, and even rarer is the use of a fiddle by an indie band. But that is exactly what The Holloways have included, to great effect, on their latest single, a re-release of Generator which was first unleashed onto the public earlier this year before they have a major record deal.

The whole song itself deals with quite a simple concept, how music can make you feel better, and this is exactly what this song does, with it's jangly guitars and ska pop rhythm, and a sound that's as much like The Libertines as it is like The Automatic. Despite their poppier music and more upbeat songs they will undoubtably be compared to the former of these two bands for the rest of their life.

Now that the days are shortening and it's getting colder and wetter this song will leave you wishing it was summer once more, but as The Holloways say, "I wont let all the little things get me depressed."
