If the film Tron had been made 25 years later, then Firebrand Boy would surely be the band behind the soundtrack. This single is our first dip into the colourful world of the Scottish duo, who've ditched the guitars and instead wired up Game Boys to their dusty Atari ST's.
Lead song Orange is a slice of digitised-pop with samples of retro computer sounds, cute synths, programmed beats and the song even manages to combine both traces of electronica and indie; the latter being in the melancholic vocals of singer Gordon Turner.
But it's B-side Three Mile Wish which my personal favourite of the two tracks on the single. Like Little Miss Trinitron's CPU Song, the turbo-charged sound effects and beats sound like you're trapped inside a games console.
Computers are clearly the new rock 'n' roll. Recommended release!
