The $hit - Lock Up Your Ghettoblasters!!!
[Shit Music]

It's difficult not to listen to an album by a band called The Shit without thinking they are an ironic art school piss-take before even putting the CD on.

Fortunately, any previous misconceptions I may have had flew out of the window on the first few sonic chords of the electro-punk classic that is opener We Don't Give A Fuck About Soul.

The Shit are pretty exciting in this age of replica clone bands who are tossed out of record label production lines faster than you can remember who the last "saviour of indie" was. The trio's music is a terrible racket that sucks in punk, synth-pop, gamecore, hardcore, electro, rock and general gritty industrial electro-punk.

Comparisons are easy; Beastie Boys, Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Suicide can be heard in parts, but these do the three-piece no justice. Like recent Adaadat signings Cutting Pink With Knives, The Shit make a quirky punk mess littered with eclectic modern-day influence.

Hear the synth-pop of a pissed-off Girls Aloud or Peaches battle with knife-edge punkage, or electric rock riffs being combined with the frazzled chips of a melted Gameboy.

This is fun-filled mechanoid-spaz-rock for those who like their music energy driven, eclectic and most importantly, absolute fun.
