The Rifles - No Love Lost

The Rifles album, out July 17th, is another piece of mediocre troubadour rock with not a huge amount to say for itself.

The London based Clash, Beatles and Jam inspired indie chaps have acquired themselves an eager fan-base, resulting in a nice line-up of festival slots for the summer, amongst which V Festival is included.

Haunted by the usual indie-boy dilemmas of one-night stands and modern life the lyrics scream average. Tracks such as Rat Race melodramatically discuss an office job, where preceding single Shes Got Standards makes reference to groupie rejection over a lack of chart success.

There is nothing wrong with this album; it makes for pleasant listening. However, paying for such extravagances would be better left to a different audience.
