Being reared on a diet of records that includes The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Queens Of The Stone Age and Joy Division has done nothing but wonders for This Et Al, a group whose epic sound will take them to a huge status by the fall of the year.
References aside, This Et Al are far from mere copyists; sure Sabbatical takes elements from the past but the band have crafted their influences into a sound which is distinctive and something they can proudly call their own. The single takes melodic, jangly indie and smothers it in huge rock riffs, melancholic vocals and cavenous shoegazing guitars.
Sabbatical is the group's most supreme single yet, which in all honesty captures the rawness of their live performances while retaining their strong writing abilities. This band are destined to go far.
