Dirty blasts of post-punk and hardcore lead Charlottefield's explosive new single. Famed for their outlandish and ear-bursting live performances, Stand Up captures the urgency and immediacy of their stage shows, while maintaining the metal-punk-post-rock hybrid of their previous releases.
Much like their first album How Long Are You Staying, Stand Up sees Charlottefield's impressive arrangements of the harsh and the beautiful sitting comfortably side by side. One angle is the aggressive screams and shouts of vocalist Thomas House with the behemoth riffs and jagged guitars, with the other side to the group being their tight, repetitive rhythms and underlying melody.
B-side Can't Stand Up however, is a different angle altogether than the group usually portray, with the quartet making a softer track that sounds like an amalgamation of Slint, Shellac and Battles jamming together.
Stand Up ranks as one of Charlottefield's finest entries to date, suggesting their second album could be a moment of pure adrenaline pumped genius.
