You have to feel some sort of pity for Sheffield indie quartet Milburn. Destined to lag in the shadows of Arctic Monkeys, even the latest reviews of the band's tour and new single have seen the four piece described as a poor knock-off substitute for their highly successful peers.
Lazy and unfounded comparisons aside, second single Send In The Boys is rousing and upfront Northern indie at its best. The sequel to last years Showroom debut is full of passion and aggression, with vocalist Joe Carnall sneering over a stomping beat and thrashy rock guitars. The ballsy swagger and full-on attitude of Send In The Boys is the kind of tune you wished Oasis would be bashing out these days.
Now if the lads can shake off those Arctic Monkeys comparisons and set about proving they are an individual band in their own right, then they definitely won't be vanishing anytime soon.
