Bridging the gap between his acclaimed Handwriting long-player and album number 2, is this gorgeous twin track 7" from the outstanding Khonnor. It's also the first in a new series of 7" singles from the consistently excellent Type Records.
Burning Palace is a fun, Summery digital pop piece, with crunchy hip-hop beats and pretty electronics. As with anything touched by Khonnor it's evocative and sublime, especially the spine-tingling chorus of sugary, ethereal vocals and twinkly effects.
Heat Convex Dreaming finds Khonnor in trademark form, moving seamlessly between a unique blend of electronica, post-rock, acoustic and shoegazing. No matter how shockingly unique the music of Connor Kirby-Long remains, there's always a side of approachability. Even through the dense layers, fuzzy instrumentation and heart-tugging vocals.
A beautiful record, which shows two contrasting sides to this inspiring musician.
