Scuzzy guitars and flirtations with electro punk, make this two track 7" from Sheffield newcomers The Ape Drape Escape, one of the most exhilerating singles in ages.
With gifted production hands behind them (Martin Moscrop of A Certain Ratio, and genius Kings Have Long Arms); the two tracks are a lesson in gritty Northern garage and energetic camp punk.
They Filled A Bag With Laughs... is similar in parts to fellow Sheffield punks Pink Grease, with blasts of sax over glam drums. But the real brilliance to the six-piece's pop-punk antics, is their fuzzy rhythm section and lyrical madness of vocalist Martin Clark.
With 200 Angry Bikers, The Ape Drape Escape have certainly proved they're a force to be reckoned with. Expect greater things to come from this inspiring Sheffield sextet.
