Billed as the next "Hives", Mando Diao's UK debut album Hurricane Bar was well-recieved on its release in March of this year, but big time fame has eluded the Swedish quartet.
With unmissable pop anthems and infectious hook after hook, you can understand why the media lapped up the urgency and passion that Hurricane Bar provided. Down In The Past is exactly those high points - brash vocals, massive garage rock riffs and super catchy melodies, but whether it will reach the kind of attention this band are after is questionable.
Having producer Richard Rainey at the helm (the man behind U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind), has given the track a slick pop angle that may have reduced the rawness of Mando Diao's music. But if anything will shoot the band into the Top 40, then they are already on the right tracks.
