Do The White Stripes ever not have a single out? Denial Twist is actually only the third to be lifted from the acclaimed Get Behind Me Satan, the blues obsessed duo's last album, which thankfully saw Meg and Jack return to the promise their early potential suggested.
Denial Twist is a bluesy piano number with the now polished pairing of Jack's freaked falsetto vocal, and Meg's token tub-thumping drum plods, adding the primitive feel the band have become so reknowned for. It is a sound you will be over familiar with by now as The White Stripes have been milking it for several albums, but a sound they do so well and a quality that doesn't seem to be fading. Well, not any time soon.
This is a cracking single and one of the many reasons why Get Behind Me Satan proved to be the White Stripes finest album to date. Let's just try and forget all about the Coke adverts.
