Undoubtedly the career highlight for M.I.A. gets a new remix reissue, backed by a Dave Kelly reworking and pressed on authentic ragga / dancehall jukebox style 7" vinyl.
Galang is M.I.A.'s most well known track, released at first during 2004 it saw the MC's hybrid of R&B, electro, grime, hip hop and ragga take the star to new found fame, leading nicely into the kaleidoscopic, genre-twisting experience that was her debut album Arular.
Galang 05 is a newish version of the single, slightly tweaked but regaining all the bold and vicious impact of the original, where synths squelch over harsh dancehall beats and M.I.A. raps with direct force. Dave Kelly takes the single further into the realms of dancehall, turning the Galang into deep dancehall and adding the battling skills of MC Cham.
Everyone should be familiar with Galang by now, if not then it's time to invest. Essential single.
