After the overblown and pompous 2003 LP Elephant, The White Stripes latest offering Get Behind Me Satan was seen by many as a return to form for the bluesy twosome. My Doorbell follows, perhaps with difficulty, the Blue Orchid single which was released to rapturous reception earlier this year.
Like The Stripes Seven Nation Army hit, Blue Orchid saw a hypnotic heavy riff and falsetto vocals in their most turbo charged single to date. My Doorbell is delivered in sharp contrast however, led purely by piano and Meg White's tub thumping drums, the track finds the pair in fairly high spirits. Add a splash of percussion and Jack's tongue-twister lyrics and you have a sure-fire on your hands.
This one will be stuck with you for weeks.
