Having recently completed a well received promotional tour for the new single, artsy Newcastle accented Britpoppers Maximo Park have found themselves on the receiving end of a reputable Mercury Prize nomination for album of the year.
Going Missing, taken from that very album, is a typically artsy interpretation of that longing feeling that you get when you've made a real mess of things and want to get the hell away to clear your head. Their front man, Paul Smith's effervescent lyrics with the band's progressive guitar/keyboard instrumentals create an unusually open but pretty air of romanticism that is core to any Maximo Park song that you are likely to hear. The b-side A19 is slightly more enigmatic but worth a listen if you're a fan.
