Editors burst into the scene earlier this year with their agitated Ian Curtis tinged debut Bullets, which was subsequently followed by the frantic Munich and indie-disco single, Blood. After three blistering singles in a row the group's full length LP doesn't fail to excite.
The Back Room is an 80's inspired classic, flipping between edgy new-wave and punk with a disco party aesthetic. Part doom and gloom, the band look to the melancholic indie fashions of Joy Division and Interpol in their vocals and lyrics, whilst their angular, spiky guitar riffs head towards the favoured characteristics of Franz Ferdinand, The Rapture or The Longcut.
With the inclusion of clockwork drum machine rhythms, cowbells and throbbing basslines, Editors create a style of indie you could expect to find slotted inbetween house tracks on a club dancefloor.
With The Back Room, Editors have clearly proved that art-rock isn't only style over substance.
