Editors - Blood
[Kitchenware Records]

“Blood runs through your veins, that’s where our similarity ends”

This is the third single from Editors and it’s as marvellous as the two that preceded it.

With hints of Joy Division and Interpol merged together with Tom Smith’s almost robotic baritone voice, it’s wholly dejected. Throw in Chris Urbanowicz’s offerings of jittery guitar riffs and there you have the dancey uplift to contrast the melancholy intonation.

Smith’s downcast voice and moody tinges clearly sets this Birmingham band apart from the masses of bands keen on hammering guitars and shouts.

If Editors’ debut album, The Back Room [out 25th July], is anything like the three singles, it should be one of the hottest albums out this summer.
