Loose Canon - Cruising On The 86
[Akoustik Anarkhy Recordings]

'Cruising On The 86' is Loose Canon's greatest four minutes and exactly why they are becoming something of a strong Manchester underground favourite, alongside Nine Black Alps and The Longcut (all who have previously made appearances at Akoustik Anarkhy clubnights).

After their last single received quite substantial positive media recognition, it seemed questionable as to whether the quartet would deliver the goods with this jumpy 45. The shimmering melodies, guitars and punchy rhythm section of 'Cruising On The 86' sound not unlike Interpol or the ambitious drive and qualities of a youthful Joy Division. Full-throttle punk guitars strike with lightning delivery into a remarkable feverish pop anthem, which before the end of the Summer, should see the group go on to become a known household name. The additional 'Test 165' track is a skewed version of surf music with broken basslines, a demonic vocal, stomping Northern Soul drums and of course, heavy on the killer surf riffs.

If one thing can be determined; Loose Canon possess a mass of ideas and know all the perfect ways to channel them into something new. They've more than surpassed anyone's expectations, simply brilliant.
