Hood have been knocking out great album after album for over a decade now, delivering with each, a more refined and impressive sound. With 2001's 'Cold House', Hood lay down a gauntlet to be the finest purveyor's of an electronic-indie hybrid. A task they achieved with ease and by the initial signs new single 'The Lost You' portrays, a tag they can still claim to own.

The broken hip-hop beats of the lead track skip and jump like a scratched CD, while a memorable piano and guitar riff blasts out in their most accomplished project to date. Elsewhere, 'You Can't Breathe Memories' shares the ethereal vocals of Sigur Ros and the indie-magic tendencies of 'The Rest Of Us Still Care', is The Smiths in electronic form.

If anything is to go by the stark strings and cemeterial atmospherics of new album teaser 'By Island Lake', then next year may not only see Hood's greatest piece of work, but possibly one of the best albums of the whole year.
