Sampling a pet cat may not be the most favoured choice of musical instrument, but it's with this creative, toylike approach coupled with an 'anything goes' ethos to their construction which makes Team LG so special.

All of the tracks featured on the duo's second EP were recorded onto a 4 track within a matter of hours, capturing the essence of the moment adding a spontaneous edge to their music. Team LG are a sampadelic duo who utilise everything from hip-hop, electronics and tin-pot percussion, similar in someways, to the work of Psapp.

A recent mix CD for the sublime Leaf Label included Ivor Cutler, Matt Johnson and Kevin Shields - which should provide a glowing suggestion of their vast influences and the varying genres which influence their own music. Their tracks are based upon simple percussive lead pieces with cute, playful xylophones and lush vocals from Little G.

The simple piano led-piece of 'Not A Lot Of Nice Days', remains instrumental throughout, proving the duo create gorgeous music with or without the aid of a vocal accompaniment. The final track on the EP containing said cat appearance from the infamous Minou, manages to be both puzzling and disturbing in equal measures, suggesting everything isn't so rosy in the duo's friendship. Although the pair make beautifully fun, childlike tunes there's a sinister edge and dark humour lying beneath.

Team LG's next EP, scheduled for October will be recorded over a weekend and available for one day only. This prolific, hedonistic approach is not only refreshing, but should be an inspiration to those who spend absurb periods of time taking their music into pretentious, over-saturated areas.
