When discussing fierce electronica, Multiplex are no strangers at being name-dropped. After numerous recent releases and a hugely successful album in 'Pinghaus Frequencies' for the prestigious Toytronic label, they now release the first EP on their own Multiplex imprint.
Although strangely billed as an EP, 'With Hands And Feet' actually boasts 10 immense tracks and remixes from some of contemporary electronica's finest. With such names as Shitmat, Proem, Dictaphone, Safety Scissors and Digitonal involved, a collection of predictable and dismissive reworkings was never going to be likely.
Offering no less than two remixes of sinister glitch mayhem, both of Shitmat's chaotic efforts come across like possessed Gameboy music on acid, with an attack of random noise and impressive use of beats. Multiplex themselves present the opener; an Oriental inspired workout that bares homage to sublime sequencing and thoughtful production, which even outshines their previous work.
On the other end of the spectrum, Digitonal (Toytronic) leads a more orchestral and strings direction, while the Proem (of Merck fame) 'RMX' is a fairly laid-back number with subtle dubby undertones.
'With Hands And Feet' is an absurdly inspiring package which truly puts similar projects to shame - it's not so much a collection of remixes, but bares all the trademarks of a full album proper. Most definitely an album to top many of this year's 'Best Of' charts, we can't recommend this EP enough.
