Murcof returns after last year's 'Ulysses' for a remix EP featuring reworkings by Fax and Sutekh. After this release, 'Utopia' will be bundled together with 'Ulysses' and unreleased remixes for a compilation album.

Fax's mix is as minimalist as the original version and equally as melancholic. It's a slow and subtle, building dub track as favoured by the Scape collective with samples of 'Ulysses' muffled into deep basslines. It's barely the same tune as Murcof's, taking 10 minutes of pure chill-out lushness.

Sutekh's Trisagion take on 'Memoria' sees traces of the original cut-up and reconstructed into an upbeat 2-step fuelled monster, it's massive and undeniably the better of the two. Amid a frenzy of beats and clicks, occasional samples of Murcof's string sections can be heard, keeping to the original melody but turning the tempo right up.

An awesome release and a fine example of the capabities remixing can take tunes. His follow-up album to the much praised 'Martes' is expected this Winter.
