Noxagt are three musicians who would have anyone fooled they're listening to a 10 strong band, and like their peers Lightning Bolt and Hella, they make a fucking terribly loud racket for such a relatively small number of members.
Most band's who rock hard with juggernaut intentions, notoriously struggle with studio difficulties in capturing their complete raw sound. Many a band suffered from blandness on recorded material, but 'Iron Point' is a perfect representation of their chaotic intentions.
Bass, drums and viola are cranked to the max, and then some. The riffs hard and heavy, drums fast and furious and the kind of filthy noise to have their rivals scared. This is the kind of 'devil-worshipping rock music' Christians tried to warn us about.
It's pretty evident however, that the true Noxagt experience won't be fully realised until you catch their live performances. It's the only place to hear the potential of their truly dark and menacing headblow sound. If you are brave / stupid enough to attend that is.
Only the last part of the album is utterly confusing, with the realisation sheer white noise for an hour is enough to get on anyone's nerves. They slow things down to Godspeed! proportions on 'Kling No Klokka', a demonised vocal with disturbing background atmospherics.
Who knows what they put in the Norwegian's water, but it sure is bizarre. Go on, let your ears bleed.
7/10
