B. Fleischmann - Welcome Tourist
[Morr Music]

Thank the Lord for Morr, always consistant and always excellent. That's why B. Fleischmann fits into the Morr mould beautifully, creating spine-tingling blissed out electronica which features a little more warmth and depth than your average IDM artist.

As with all things Germanic, there's a fair amount of repetition (this hasn't changed in 30 years!) and a focused structure to the tracks. Every piece contains well calculated melodies and change, there's certainly a method to his mayhem. Even with the introduction of live drums, guitars & piano, there's an overall digital feel to the compositions, you can't help but picture laptop geekery at work.

Fleischmann is forgiven for trying to introduce vocals to his tracks, 'Sleep' for example, sounds like Static or the recent Montag EP on Ai Records. It's just they sound fairly out of place and do nothing for the actual songs. It's definitely the instrumentals where he succeeds.

The LP begins rather well only to find it loses its head partway through and by the end, interest begins to drop a little. This isn't to say 'Welcome Tourist' is a poor release, on the contrary, he writes and produces incredibly lovely tunes. This sound however, is fairly overdone.

Although production is excellent and slick, there's far too many albums which sound like this already. However, fans of City Centre Offices or Morr will love this dearly.
