The Stripes must have been playing this live favourite for years, it's hardly one of the standout tracks from 'Elephant' and shows times must be hard if they are relying on cover versions as singles.
The studio version lacks the rawness of the live version and seems to plod along, unsure of what direction it wants to take. The Stripes sound is also increasingly becoming boring and tedious, they really need to develop their sound further, this version of the Dusty Springfield song just confirms they are incapable of attempting any new sound.
Having sold the latest album by the truckload, they have no need to release any more singles and songs like this will hardly attract any new clientele. A completely pointless cover that adds nothing new and bores the pants of anyone within a ten mile radius. Lets boycott the Stripes before they release more of this crap.
