The press release screams "at last a girl group with real balls", and they're not wrong. All girl rock quartet The Hedrons have been smashing the live circuit for a while now with their energetic take on punk and Be My Friend is their first recorded introduction.

Like this year's fellow all female break-through act Dead Disco, Be My Friend has hints of Blondie, but pummels it with heavy guitars that have drawn comparisons to Foo Fighters and early Sonic Youth, but best of all, is the pure rock attitude and vocals of frontwoman Tippi. The whole three minutes are fast and furious, bursting with an energised rhythm section and punchy riffs.
