The Zutons have begun work on their fourth album, despite parting ways with their record label.
The group were dropped by SonyBMG in January, following low sales of their 2008 album 'You Can Do Anything', and are still without a deal.
But this hasn't deterred the band, as saxophonist Abi Harding tells the Liverpool Echo: "We're writing a new album at the moment. We've just moved rehearsal rooms, so we're pretty busy."
"We've had a bit of time off. Now we're just concentrating on writing."
As for the direction they'll be taking, The Zutons have some surprising influences up their sleeves.
"I've been listening to loads of music," Abi explains, "some mad instrumental stuff from Africa, some great stuff from Fela Kuti."
"Maybe it inspires a bit of what we do. But that's always been the thing with the band – what we play changes all the time. It feels like we can play anything we want."
