The Smiths could be reforming next year to perform at the 2009 Coachella Festival, reports a UK tabloid.
It's claimed the indie band, who split in 1987, has been offered £2.8 million (about $4.6 million) to reform and play the event by organisers.
A source tells The Sun that the group may have put their differences to one side to regroup for the festival: "It has looked impossible in the past but suddenly it all looks like it could happen."
"The buzz around the people who used to work for the band is they could play Coachella for a ludicrous amount of money. It's closer than it ever has been. The split was a messy affair, but time's a healer."
During their time together, The Smiths released four albums - 'The Smiths', 'Meat Is Murder', 'The Queen Is Dead' and 'Strangeways Here We Come'. Since their demise, the members have gone on to form other successful projects.
