Simply Red are suing EMI, over the release of the band's Greatest Hits album in 1996. The Sun reports that Mick Hucknall has filed a suit against the company in a £300,000 action.
The suit claims that 51,000 copies of the CD were given to a company named Entertainment UK Ltd by EMI. Now the singer and his business associates are seeking any profits from the sales, along with damages, after the company went into administration shortly after the deal.
Simply Red will split later this year after forming 25 years ago. Last year saw the release of a new greatest hits collection titled 25.
