Shakira To Perform Hostage Awareness Concert

Shakira will perform at a concert in Columbia today (Sunday July 20th), to show her support for the effort to free hostages held by a Colombian rebel group.
The singer is performing at the Independence Day awareness event alongside Colombian pop star Carlos Vives, after she met with Ingrid Betancourt last week - a recently freed captive who has held hostage by the rebels.
The concert hopes to apply pressure on FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) to release its predicted 700 prisoners.
