Reverend Run Loses Daughter At Birth

Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons - of Run DMC - and his wife Justine have sadly lost their newborn daughter at birth.

The baby was delivered via caesarean section on Tuesday at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She passed away shortly afterwards due to complications, including her organs being on the outside of her body.

Run has issued the following statement through MTV:

"On September 26, 2006, Victoria Anne Simmons for some unknown reason chose to come early and unfortunately did not survive. We must accept whatever is there and once you accept unconditionally, then everything is beautiful. Every pain has a purifying effect."

It's believed that an MTV film crew were present at the hospital to film the birth for the new season of the hit reality show "Run's House."

Run and Justine were married in 1994 and have two sons, 10-year-old Daniel (Diggy) and eight-year-old Russell (Russy). Run also has three other children from his previous marriage to Valerie Vaughn: Vanessa, 22, Angela, 18 and Joseph, 16.

Our hearts go out to the Simmons family during this sad time.
