Pink Donates $250,000 To Red Cross Bushfire Appeal

Pink is donating $250,000 (£175,000) to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal in Australia, following the devastating effects of the fires.

The singer says she is shocked by scenes of the destruction, which has caused more than 180 deaths and left many victims homeless.

"I've been really affected by the media images of the tragic bushfires in Victoria," Pink is quoted as saying. "My heart goes out to all those who have suffered so much in these circumstances."

"There is little anyone can do at such a long distance away but I wanted to make a tangible expression of support," the Grammy Award winning singer added.

"I will be donating $250,000 to the Red Cross Bushfire Appeal, and hope that this, amongst all the other outpouring of charitable support, will help the rebuilding of lives and communities in the areas affected."

Pink will soon be heading out to Australia to perform more than 40 concerts - including a record-breaking 13 night residency at the Rod Laver Arena. On her forthcoming tour plans, she adds: "I'm looking forward to returning to a country I love so much."
