Paolo Nutini 'Considered Going On Pop Idol'

Paolo Nutini was once going to audition for Pop Idol, because his mother thought he'd do well in the contest.

Before becoming a number-one selling artist, the singer-songwriter considered trying his luck in the show that launched the career of Will Young, as he explains: "I thought about going onto the first one, Pop Idol, my mum was saying, go on! But I decided not to."

"The X Factor though doesn't really seem to be a show about musical talent anymore." Nutini told the Mirror. "It's just entertainment - more like a sitcom."

Paolo recently mocked celebrity Twitter users who spend all day telling their fans what they are currently upto.
