Nine Inch Nails Release Ghosts I-IV Album

Nine Inch Nails have surprised fans by self-releasing a new record today named Ghosts I-IV, through their own website.

The full album is a 36 track instrumental, as recorded over a ten week period in 2007 and lasts almost two hours.

Fans will have a variety of different format options to choose from (including some very pricey options), such as:

* a free download sampler, holding the first nine songs
* a $5 download version of the full record
* a $10 two-CD set (this will also be in shops from April 5th)
* a $75 deluxe version, featuring a hardcover book, data DVD and a Blu-Ray disc that holds high definition recordings
* a $300 "ultra" deluxe version - exactly as above, but signed by Trent Reznor.

Speaking of Reznor, he posted on the band's official site: "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point."

"This collection of music is the result of working from a very visual perspective - dressing imagined locations and scenarios with sound and texture; a soundtrack for daydreams", he added. "I'm very pleased with the result and the ability to present it directly to you without interference. I hope you enjoy the first four volumes of Ghosts."
