MGMT are wrapping up work on their second album 'Congratulations', which they'll be releasing in early 2010.
The pair worked with former Spacemen 3 member Pete 'Sonic Boom' Kember (most recently known as Spectrum and E.A.R.), and recorded the songs in a Malibu studio.
Describing the newer material as sounding "bleaker" than acclaimed debut album 'Oracular Spectacular', MGMT member Andrew VanWyngarden says: "The song 'Congratulations' itself is pretty dark."
"It's us trying to deal with all the craziness that's been going on since our last album took off. Sometimes it just doesn't feel natural."
Also starring on 'Congratulations' is Jennifer Herrema of defunct band Royal Trux, and now RTX. There is no official release date just yet.
