Mary J Blige 'Enrolled In Acting Classes'

Mary J. Blige has admitted she enrolled in acting classes ahead of her new movie role.

The R&B / soul singer stars in Tyler Perry's new comedy-drama film 'I Can Do Bad All By Myself', which hit theaters yesterday (September 11).

Blige plays the role of Tanya - a 'tough-talking best friend' of Taraji P. Henson - reports the Daily Star, and her character also sings during the film.

And so nervous about making her big screen, Mary confesses: "I went and got an acting coach and it helped a lot."

This week the hitmaker denied she is replacing Paula Adbul as a judge on American Idol.

Blige releases her ninth album 'Stronger' on November 24.
