Mariah Carey Sings 'Uplifting Songs To Help Fans'

Mariah Carey sings uplifting songs in the hope it will help some of her troubled fans who can relate to the lyrics.

Carey was discussing her role in new movie 'Precious' when she made comparisons of her character to some of her songs.

In the film, Carey plays a social worker who helps obese, illiterate teen Clareece "Precious" Jones, who has been pregnant twice by her own father.

"There are a lot of girls that I see at my shows that may fit the description of what people might think a 'Precious' girl is." The 'Obsessed' singer said.

"When I sing certain songs, you really see that it brings out emotions in them." Carey added to Parade magazine.

"I see tears of gratitude or joy because they relate to the message. So that's why I continue to do songs that I feel will be uplifting."

Last month Mariah revealed she has already chosen a baby name.
