Klaxons Win Mercury Music Prize 2007

Last night Klaxons won the 2007 Nationwide Mercury Music Prize, for their acclaimed and multi-selling album Myths Of The Near Future.

The band beat off competition from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Bat For Lashes, Dizzee Rascal, Arctic Monkeys and Maps (the full shortlist can be viewed here still).

Obviously surprised by their win, Klaxons said on stage as they picked-up the award: "This really is too much, it just means so much to us."

"A year ago today we were in the studio recording this album and we were watching the Arctic Monkeys step up and thinking we've got to make a great album."
