Jade Ewen "This Is The Best Year Of My Life"

Jade Ewen has described 2009 as "the best year of my life."

Before joining the Sugababes recently, or being signed as a solo artist earlier on in the year, Ewen admits she was considering giving up on her dreams of being a pop star.

"This time last year I was thinking about packing it all in." Says Jade. "I didn't want to sing any more. I had been trying for so long and it was so difficult."

"I did consider going on X Factor because I didn't know what else to do." The 'My Man' singer added to The Sun.

"I considered a normal job. I signed on in Stratford, sitting there thinking, 'There has to be something better out there than this'."

"I remember one guy working there [at the Job Center] asked me what I wanted to do. I said I wanted to be a singer. He laughed at me and said, 'You've got to have realistic goals'."

"I bumped into him in Tesco and he came running up to me and said, 'Jade, Jade. How would you feel about coming in to do a talk to encourage the kids?'."

"I just thought it was unbelievable the way his attitude towards me had changed but it would be great to do something to help kids to keep chasing their dreams."
