Graham Coxon has announced details of his next solo album, 'The Spinning Top'.
Despite rejoining Blur and rehearsing for the band's reunion dates in Summer, the guitarist will deliver his latest LP through Transgressive Records on May 11.
Blur producer Stephen Street worked on the album and Coxon is joined by guest contributors Robyn Hitchcock and Danny Thompson, amongst others.
A single, 'Sorrow's Army', follows a week later on May 18 although a strictly limited edition etched 10" of 'In The Morning' will precede on April 18 - as part of next month's Record Store Day.
A few intimate live shows are being planned for May, although a full tour will take place in Autumn, Until then, Graham Coxon will be performing with Peter Doherty on his tour this month (get tickets here).
Graham himself says of 'The Spinning Top': "The album is mainly an acoustic journey although there is, of course, some explosive electric guitar action."
"I wanted to show how exciting acoustic instruments can be, how dynamic and rich and heart-thumpingly raw they can sound at a time when acoustic music seems either too cute or too soppy."
"Obvious influences here are the amazing Martin Carthy, the late, great Davey Graham and the late, great John Martyn".
"There are some guests too! Robyn Hitchcock supplies some counter-attack guitar, Jas Singh plays dilruba and jori with his friends Gurjit Sembhi on taus and Jaskase Singh on esraj."
"Danny Thompson plays the legendary Victoria, Graham Fox gives plenty of swing on the drums and sizzle cymbals and Louis Vause tinkles the ivories."
"My friend Lucy supplies the voice of the wife and Natasha marsh channels the voice of the Medea-like enchantress."
Graham Coxon will also be performing live in the Summer with Blur. The band have their own headline events in London and Manchester (tickets on sale here), and will also be performing at Glastonbury and T In The Park.
