Glasvegas Planning Second Album

Glasvegas are already planning to record their second album, with the intention of releasing the new songs by Spring 2010.

The band's acclaimed debut has been given a nod on this year's Mercury Music Prize shortlist, which frontman James Allan hopes will win the coveted award.

And now, after their touring this summer, Glasvegas will head into the studio to lay down the new material.

James says of the writing process so far: "There's been quite a natural thing, as with the first record. I don't really sit down and try and write, a lot of it just comes to me quite uninvited."

"It's just been things popping in my head the way it always did before, with the songs for the first album." James added to BBC 6 Music. "I've been putting them all down and writing the ideas."

"I've got a typewriter and it's been quite nice to put down the words and all that. We'll do the demos and then we'll just record at Christmas-time or early January."

"Hopefully by the time the leaves are grown on the trees and the daffodils are starting to bloom, that's when out second child will be born."
