Frankmusik has blasted Britney Spears for using a "gimmick" to sell records.
The singer-producer, who himself has been accused of using gimmicks to raise awareness of his own music, was speaking about her 'Circus' single' 'If U Seek Amy'.
"You know Britney Spears' 'If U Seek Amy'? It sounds like she's saying 'F-*-*-K Me', it's a play on words. That's not a song, it's a gimmick. It's like she's tried to come up with a logo." He told FHM.
"My favourite pop songs are those that sound like the person writing it didn't pick up a pen, the song just came to them. You might not have heard it before but it seems as if you could sing along to the lyrics."
"Pop music needs tension and release. Like sex. Moments of delicacy need to be brought up to climactic points.
"We are talking about hits, so you are already limiting yourself to a verse-chorus-middle eight. However, that's where the limits end. Don't start wondering whether Radio 1 will play it."
As for his own "gimmicks", Frankmusik recently came under fire from fans of Cheryl Cole, who feel he has used the singer's name to raise interest in his own career.
First he claimed to be producing music for Cole's debut album '3 Words' (which ended up not being true), and then last week accused Will.i.am of stealing one of his tracks for that very record - despite both songs actually sampling a well-known Fleetwood Mac hit.
Frankmusik is now working on his second album, to be released next year.
