Editors singer Tom Smith has promised the band's new album will shock some of their fans.
The group have taken a radical change in direction on their third studio album 'In This Light And On This Evening', which is influenced by sci-fi.
"It is very different from previous Editors records, there are things it has in common with a couple of songs from the first album," Smith says.
"Most of it was recorded live even though it's a lot more electronic," he added to Music Week.
"It sounds like us trying to tame these machines and hopefully it doesn't sound clinical and emotionless like a lot of electronic records do. Hopefully it's warm and breathing."
Editors release 'In This Light And On This Evening' in the Autumn, to coincide with their upcoming tour. Tickets are available here.
